13U Tournament is a Hit !!!
Ancaster Minor Baseball Association hosted the 2021 Matthew Krol Memorial REP Baseball Tournament on August 27th, 28th and 29th.

This year's tournament featured 8 teams divided into 2 divisions. Divisional play began Friday night and continued throughout the day on Saturday. The semi-finals and championship games were played on Sunday. Congratulations to Seaway Surge who defeating the Caledonia Bears in the Blue Division final and to the Brantford Red Sox who defeated the host Ancaster Angels in the Red Division final.

The tournament also featured a memorial ceremony, honouring the memory of Matthew Krol.
On August 4, 1994, while hosting the Big League Canadian Championships at the newly built Ancaster Community Centre, lightning struck the field and killed a young man by the name of Matthew Krol. Matthew had just turned 19, and playing for his hometown team in a national championship. The final strike of lightning coming as the skies had cleared and play was about to resume. It is a moment and a day that has not been forgotten in this town. This tournament helps us remember and honour Matthew Krol’s life and legacy.

Special thanks to the 13U Coaching staff and all volunteers who made it a success.
