The Ancaster Angels Rep Program
What is Rep Baseball?
The Angels Rep program is travel ball that allows youth players to play ball at a higher level which does not include House League play. As a travel ball program, players suit up in the Angels uniform and play a regular season against other city centres in the Inter County Baseball Association (ICBA). These teams include the Hamilton Cardinals, Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Stratford, Woodstock, etc.
The Ancaster Baseball Association provides youth baseball players the opportunity to develop through our High Performance program and play at the highest level. Player positions will be determined by the Coach to maximize player’s capabilities and team success. Players selected for an Angels Tier 1 team will be expected to commit to developing their individual and team baseball skills to the highest level attainable in a competitive environment.
As members of the Ontario Baseball Association (OBA), our Rep teams also participate in several tournaments throughout the province (or even in the US), as well as ICBA championships, and OBA Provincial championships.
Who Can Play?
Teams are selected each year through tryouts in the fall. The program is open to all players 9U-18U.
Age is based on the calendar year. If you wish to play up a year, please consult the Rep Director.
Those who live in Ancaster do not need a release.
Those who live outside of this area will need to contact their local association to secure a release before a Rep tryout opportunity can be granted with Ancaster Baseball (see Release information below).
A player who is not offered a spot on their local Association’s team is deemed released by that Association. The Association must provide a release upon request. Please send this release to the Angels Registrar prior to the first tryout.
Once teams are picked, the Coaching staff determines whether the team will compete at the
Tier 1 AAA/AA level or Tier 2 AA/A level.
Depending on the number of players at tryouts, there may be a 2nd team formed at an age group.
In order to be eligible as a player for the 2nd team, you must attend tryouts for the 1st team.
In certain circumstances, we may group 2 age groups to form a 2nd team. If this is the case, all players from the oldest of the 2 age groups will form the initial roster and the remainder of the spots will be filled by the younger age group.
The Rep Season
Begins in November with our formal off-season training program. Read all about our training program on our Angels Development page. Our training program prepares our Rep players to field highly competitive teams once the season begins.
The regular season consists of approx 22 games beginning in May and runs until early August. Teams generally play 1 home and 1 away game per week and have 2 practices per week.
Playoffs and Championships take place in mid-August to Labour Day Weekend.
Weekend tournaments dates and locations vary by team and are scheduled between May 1 and September 1.
Rep tryouts take place each fall, usually after Labour Day weekend. Dates vary by age group. Tryout details for each year will be posted on our website and social media as they become available. Please check on a regular basis as dates may change due to unforseen circumstances.
